Launching Kids Inc Training Academy

At Kids Inc Nurseries, we are very passionate about the professional development of early years practitioners. As well as adding to their own skills, practitioners are then able to enhance the learning and development of the children in their care. Our nurseries are located over eight different boroughs in and around the M25, providing very different levels of training, so we decided to bring our training in-house to ensure that all of our practitioners have the same learning opportunities.

The Kids Inc Nurseries training team are delighted to announce the launch of our Kids Inc Training Academy, established to support our practitioners with their ongoing professional learning and development, and thereby enhancing their career prospects. As well as training our own practitioners, training sessions will also be open to other local nurseries that may not have their own internal training teams.

What Training Will the Academy Offer?

Our ‘Toolkit Training’ encompasses foundation-level training for early years, in line with the Early Years Statutory Framework and will also be open to external nurseries to book onto. This includes the following nine programmes:

  1. Self-Regulation and Associated Behaviours
  2. Babies, Brains and Brilliance
  3. Every Key Person Matters
  4. Child Protection Fundamentals
  5. Early Years Statutory Framework
  6. The Great Outdoors
  7. Observation, Assessment and Planning
  8. Let’s Create a Sustainable World
  9. Special Educational Needs, Disabilities and Inclusion

These face-to-face sessions will include additional topics for blended learning.

Assisting Future Leaders with Apprenticeships

Regardless of whether our practitioners are already working with us and want to up-skill or have been employed as apprentices through our training partner, Realise, all of them are supported by the Kids Inc Apprenticeship Lead, Sarah, with monthly visits and workshops.

The workshops provide all trainees with the opportunity to network with other apprentices and make more progress through collaborative learning.

Abbey is our Lead Early Years Trainer and has an Early Childhood Degree. After studying, Abbey worked as a Nursery Practitioner, progressing quickly through the ranks to become a Nursery Manager. Her experience in managing and leading different nurseries has allowed her to work alongside some fantastic nursery teams and achieve outstanding Ofsted outcomes. Through working with her teams, Abbey developed a love for training, especially focusing on a coaching approach. Abbey has a Level 3 in Education and Training, a Level 3 in Forest School Training, and is a Gallup Certified Coach and Yogini’s Yoga Instructor.

Sarah is our Apprenticeship Lead and has previously worked as a Nursery Manager, as well as an Assessor. Sarah brings a wealth of experience with her. We now have a significant number of apprentices working towards their Level 3 and Level 5 qualifications and, with her assessing experience, Sarah maintains regular contact with our practitioners to support them with their learning. Sarah holds a Level 3 qualification in Leadership and Management and is passionate about team development and helping others to achieve their aspirations.
