The Covid-19 pandemic changed the lives of many individuals and hugely impacted lockdown babies in their early years development stages thus presenting many challenges for parents. Whether you had to introduce a home learning environment via zoom, self-isolate or introduce a new baby into the family, there were a lot of strains that parents had to manage during the lockdowns and following the country re-opening.
Understanding your new ‘normal’ can be difficult. It is important that we assist babies and young children in their development, but to do that, it is necessary to highlight the key areas in which the pandemic has impacted your little ones.
There are around 1,700 babies born every day in England, so there are many babies and little ones whose lives have been impacted since the first lockdown. When all restrictions were in place, expectant mothers had to attend scans and appointments alone and potentially even give birth without a partner by their side.
The growth and development of a baby’s progression is a very important focus for the first 1,000 days of their lives. For both parents and babies, there was a huge decline in social interactions. This resulted in babies and young children only being comfortable around their immediate family and not enjoying any interaction with grandparents, friends and the outside world. It is now more important than ever to consider allowing your babies to spend time with others outside their immediate household to help encourage their speech and interaction development.
Taking care of a baby and raising them during a very isolated period is difficult, so parents need to ensure that they also give themselves time to take care of their own mental health and wellbeing. Now that employees are returning to work, all of our nurseries are open and, to improve the parent-child relationship, it is key to take time away from your babies to encourage development in new environments. Kids Inc Nurseries are here to assist you and your baby in one of our twelve nurseries.
Nursery is a great place for babies to learn to play and interact with other babies at a similar stage in their development. When interacting with both babies and grown-ups, you will notice various changes in a baby’s language and body language. But remember that, depending on your baby’s age, their early years development stages may vary considerably.
At Kids Inc Nurseries, we welcome parents to call whenever they feel they need to discuss their baby’s care. Settling your child into nursery for the first time may be difficult for many parents, especially following the pandemic, but we ensure that we assist you and your baby every step of the way. We encourage parents to call us during the day to discuss how their babies are settling in during the early weeks.
Please contact us to discuss the care of your little one, meet the team or have a look around one of our nurseries. Lots of information can also be found in our Parent Handbook which is available on our website. We are always here to help, so please either contact our nurseries directly or call our head office team on 020 8598 2600 if you have any queries at any time.
