Settling your child into nursery for the first time may be difficult for many parents, especially following the pandemic. However, at Kids Inc Nurseries, we ensure that we assist you and your child every step of the way to encourage your child to love our nursery as much as we do. Our FAQs on our website set out everything you need to know, from viewing and booking to finances and funding.
In the lead up to your child’s start date, our nursery manager will contact you to arrange your settling in sessions. During the first settling in session, you will remain in the room with your child, meet the room team and complete paperwork required to help the team get to know your child.
In the second settling in session, you will remain in the room with your child for about half of the session, and then spend time with the nursery manager to finalise any remaining paperwork and give you another opportunity to ask further questions that you may have.
During the third settling in session, we would request that you drop your child at the nursery and then leave for around two hours. Based on how well your child manages the third settling in session, we may arrange further sessions with you.
All of our nurseries offer a full day with meals included and all dietary requirements catered for. We ask for parents to NOT bring food into the nursery to avoid any allergy issues.
However, please do provide milk formula and bottles for your child if they need it, as well as your own nappies and wipes, because we know how important it is to care for your child’s skin so it is best to use the nappies that are right for them. These will all be kept in allocated areas and will only be used for your child. Please ask us if you would like to see our milk kitchens and/or changing rooms.
In case of any accidents or messy play, we would like you to provide a spare change of clothes for your child when settling and beyond. Please keep the weather in mind when packing clothes, as we do like to use our outdoor areas every day. In the summer months, we provide sun cream for all children, but please do pack a sunhat. In the winter months, your little one will also need a warm coat and a cosy hat.
If your child has any known allergies and requires medication, please provide this and let us know of any medical needs. All belongings should be clearly labelled and packed in your child’s nursery backpack.
Our nurseries are fully equipped with CCTV and phones in each room, so we do encourage you to call the nursery to speak to our team whenever you need to. The nursery manager will of course call you to discuss your child’s care whenever needed.
All children settle into nursery in different ways, so please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss the care of your little one, meet the team or have another show round. Lots of information can also be found in our Parent Handbook which is available on our website. We are always here to help, so please either contact our nurseries directly or call our head office team on 020 8598 2600 if you have any queries at any time.
